Si sciopera anche su Internet: stop a SOPA e PIPA!
Il 18 gennaio 2012 sarà una delle giornate più importanti dell'epoca digitale. Dalle 08:00AM alle 20:00PM si verificherà infatti il blackout di tanti dei servizi web più conosciuti.
Colossi del web come Reddit, Identi.ca, FSF, EFF, Creative Commons, Mozilla e tanti altri si "auto-oscureranno" per protestare e sensibilizzare l'opinione pubblica contro due delle più grandi porcherie mai concepite contro la libertà di informazione: "Stop Online Piracy Act" (SOPA) e "Protect IP Act" (PIPA).
Sono due proposte di Legge, la prima presentata dal deputato repubblicano Lamar Smith, la seconda dal democratico Patrick Leahy, che verranno votate dal Senato statunitense il 24 Gennaio 2012.
Entrambe configurano un chiarissimo tentativo di mettere un bavaglio alla rete con buonapace del 1° emendamento, del diritto di opinione, di quello di stampa, etc.
In una parola: censura.
Se tali proposte diventassero legge infatti, i dententori di copyright potrebbero agire direttamente per impedire la diffusione di contenuti "protetti".
Citando Wikipedia:
La legge permetterebbe inoltre al Dipartimento di Giustizia ed ai titolari di copyright di procedere legalmente contro i siti web accusati di diffondere o facilitare le infrazioni del diritto d’autore. A seconda del richiedente, le sanzioni potrebbero includere il divieto ai network pubblicitari o ai siti di gestione dei pagamenti (come, ad esempio,Paypal) d’intrattenere rapporti d’affari con il sito accusato delle infrazioni, il divieto ai motori di ricerca di mantenere attivi link verso il sito in questione e la richiesta agliInternet Service Provider di bloccare l’accesso al sito web.
È vero che all'apparenza sembra una querelle tutta americana... ma non è difficile intuire la portata assolutamente devastante su scala mondiale di una eventuale approvazione.
Si configurerebbe una sorta di "great firewall" cinese però legalmente riconosciuto.
L'applicazione di SOPA e PIPA significherebbe:
- imporre agli internet service provider di "indagare" sui contenuti uploadati dagli utenti o di impedire agli utenti stessi di uploadare contenuti protetti da copyright
- imporre agli internet service provider di modificare i DNS per bloccare la risoluzione dei nomi di dominio dei siti che in altre nazioni ospitano copie illegali di materiale sottoposto a copyright
- imporre ai motori di ricerca di modificare i risultati delle ricerche in modo da escludere siti stranieri ospitano materiale coperto da copyright
- imporre alle agenzie web di intrattenere rapporti commerciali con siti stranieri che ospitano materiale coperto da copyright (si pensi a paypal, google adsense, etc.)
Il verificarsi di quanto detto nel primo punto della lista, tra l'altro, significherebbe far ri-precipitare il web indietro di un decennio (che in era digitale equivale a più di un'era glaciale): l'obbligo di controllare meticolosamente ogni immagine, video, contenuto, etc. tarperebbe definitivamente le ali al famoso web 2.0, il web "costruito" dai suoi utenti, popolato da contenuti creati dagli utenti.
Debianizzati.org si unisce al coro di protesta che sta facendo sentire forte la sua voce sul web: il 18 Gennaio 2012 un banner nero recante la scritta "Stop censorship" campeggerà sull'header del portale.
Se cliccato, condurrà al sito di americancensorship, ovvero alla sorgente della protesta.
Tutti possono far sentire la propria voce ed ingrossare le fila di chi dice NO!
Il web è di tutti! Giù le mani dal web!
